SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Notre Dame reserve guard Madison Cable, who led the Atlantic Coast Conference in 3-point shooting percentage at .476 and led the team in charges taken, will return for a fifth year of eligibility after missing her freshman season because of stress fractures in her feet.

The university announced Friday she had been granted a fifth year. Cable averaged 21.2 minutes a game, which was sixth on the team, and averaged 6.2 points as the Irish advanced to the national title game. She also led the Irish with 59 steals.

Cable's return comes in the wake of the decision by Jewell Loyd, the team's leading scorer at 19.8 points a game, to turn pro after her junior season. She was the first player taken in the WNBA draft by Seattle.
