Scouting Report
A dynamic runner who is also effective catching passes out of the backfield, Turbin is considered one of the more impressive running backs available and could be selected as high as the second round. He left Utah State after his junior season after missing 2010 with a torn ACL, but last season proved the injury should not be a worry. He carried the load for the Aggies, totaling 1,517 yards with a per-carry average of 6.1 while scoring 19 touchdowns. He added 17 catches for 171 yards and four more scores. That was even better than his sophomore season when he gained 1,296 yards with a per-carry average of 6.3 yards and 13 touchdowns, while making 30 receptions for 418 yards and five TDs. He ran for a career-high 208 yards and three touchdowns in a win at Idaho on Nov. 19. Turbin's versatility along with his running style impresses scouts, as he's a powerful runner who can make defenders miss. He's capable of moving the pile and is also evasive in the open field. He was solid at the combine, running a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash with 28 bench presses, a 36-inch vertical leap and 10-foot, 2-inch broad jump. One area of concern is his blocking, which needs major improvement. He struggles setting his feet and can be knocked off balance. However, he's seen as a leader with a strong work ethic.
