Analysis: DL stints are nothing new for Paxton, who's missed time in each of the past three seasons with various injuries. Considering his medical history, it would surprising if he missed only one start. The left-hander has pitched extremely well this season, posting a 3-0 record and 1.45 ERA through six starts and striking out 45 batters in 37 2/3 innings.

Paxton struck out six, ending the game with a 1.43 ERA and 0.98 WHIP on the season.
Analysis: Paxton allowed just one less walk than he did over his first five starts, but still limited the damage.

Analysis: Paxton's scoreless innings streak to begin the year ended at 23 when the A's got on the board in the third. He had allowed just eight hits in his first three starts combined. ''Just didn't have it today,'' said Paxton, who had been 2-0 with a 2.75 ERA in three previous starts against Oakland. He'll try to bounce back Wednesday in Detroit, where he's 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in three outings.

He's the 10th pitcher in the majors ever to open a season with three scoreless starts of at least six innings.
