Arkansas star RB Williams carted off

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) A year and a half after he broke his neck in a game, Arkansas running back Rawleigh Williams suffered another injury scare when he was taken away in an ambulance from a Razorbacks practice on Saturday.

Williams was injured prior to an Arkansas scrimmage, falling to the ground after a light hit and remaining there afterward. He was able to move his fingers before being loaded onto a stretcher and cart, and the university announced his injury as a "stinger."

Following the completion of the scrimmage, Razorbacks coach Bret Bielema said the early indications about Williams' injury were "very, very positive."

ROME (AP) Jim Harbaugh stood with a megaphone, his team at his back, in front of more than a thousand spectators, some sporting maize and blue.

He thanked the Italians in attendance for their hospitality, enthusiasm and for helping Michigan's football program experience a trip of a lifetime.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Justin Herbert threw for 327 yards and found Darren Carrington for three touchdowns in Oregon's first Spring Game under new coach Willie Taggart on Saturday.

The vibe around the annual event was totally different than in past years: Instead of building on previous successes, the Ducks are - almost - starting fresh.

3 Washington DBs taken early in round 2

The second round of the NFL draft became a showcase for the talent Chris Petersen is building at Washington.

Three defensive backs from the Huskies were taken in the first 11 picks in the second round of the draft on Friday night. Cornerback Kevin King was taken by Green Bay with the first pick of the second round and No. 33 overall; safety Budda Baker was nabbed by Arizona with the No. 36 overall selection; and injured cornerback Sidney Jones was taken at No. 43 overall by Philadelphia.

Players from Big 12 slow to go in draft

Let's just say the phone isn't ringing off the hook for Big 12 players so far in the NFL draft.

Only five players from the conference were selected through the third round Friday night, and it appeared the Big 12 was headed toward having the fewest picks among the power five leagues again.

Recruiting reforms closer to approval

The NCAA Board of Governors decided not to tinker with a package of football recruiting reforms that was approved earlier this month, essentially rubber stamping an early signing period in the sport.

The Division I Council approved a sweeping package that would allow players to sign with schools as early as December, permit high school juniors to take official visits from April through June and impose a two-year waiting period before Bowl Subdivision schools can hire people close to recruits to non-coaching positions.

Ex-PSU officials to be sentenced in June

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Sentencing has been scheduled for three former top officials at Penn State University who were convicted of child endangerment in the Jerry Sandusky molestation scandal.

Former university president Graham Spanier, former vice president Gary Schultz and former athletic director Tim Curley will be sentenced June 2 in Harrisburg.
