MADISON, Wis. (AP) Jonathan Taylor ran for a touchdown and broke the 1,000-yard mark for the season, Alex Hornibrook passed for two scores and No. 5 Wisconsin stayed unbeaten with a 38-13 win over Maryland on Saturday.

Taylor finished with 126 yards on 22 carries, a relatively ho-hum day following two straight 200-yard outings for the running back.

Playing in his seventh contest at Wisconsin (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten), Taylor tied a major college football record shared by five other backs for fewest games by a freshman to get to 1,000 yards.

Stakes high for No. 2 PSU vs. Michigan

This team is back. That team is back. The practice of proclaiming that a struggling traditional college football power has returned to elite status after a big win is fraught with false steps.

The truth is that a return to glory can rarely be narrowed down to a single game. But if there ever was a "they're back" moment in college football that turned out to be real, it was on Oct. 22, 2016, in State College, Pennsylvania.

RBs in spotlight as Notre Dame hosts USC

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Quarterbacks have received most of the attention whenever Southern California and Notre Dame have their annual showdown in college football. The running backs have often decided the outcome.

It should be no different Saturday night when No. 11 USC (6-1) and No. 13 Notre Dame (5-1) meet as ranked opponents for the first time since the 2009 season.

Louisville wins at FSU on late FG

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) Blanton Creque made a 34-yard field goal with five seconds remaining as Louisville defeated Florida State 31-28 on Saturday and got its first win at Doak Campbell Stadium since 1952.

The Cardinals (5-3, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) took over on their own 24 with 2:05 remaining after Henry Famurewa recovered a James Blackman fumble. They then drove 59 yards in eight plays before Creque's kick. The win ends a Louisville nine-game losing streak in Tallahassee.

Hall runs for 254 as Pitt wins at Duke

DURHAM, N.C. (AP) Darrin Hall rushed for career highs of 254 yards and three touchdowns, including the go-ahead 4-yard score with 10:48 to play, and Pittsburgh upset Duke 24-17 on Saturday.

Hall broke a century-old school record with his 92-yard touchdown run that came 18 seconds after Duke took a double-digit lead, and also scored on an early 79-yard run for the Panthers (3-5, 1-3 Atlantic Coast Conference).

Northwestern knocks off Iowa in OT

EVENSTON, Ill. (AP) Quarterback Clayton Thorson scored on a 1-yard run and Northwestern rallied from a sluggish first half for a 17-10 overtime victory over Iowa on Saturday.

Thorson's score was set up by a 23-yard reception by running back Justin Jackson, who broke three tackles on the play to give the Wildcats (4-3, 2-2 in the Big Ten) a first down at the 1-yard line. Following Northwestern's score, Iowa moved the ball to the 18-yard line, but Nate Stanley's pass for Noah Fant on a fourth-and-3 play fell incomplete, ending the game.

Rutgers gets second straight Big Ten win

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) Gus Edwards scored on a 74-yard run on Rutgers' second offensive play and Gio Rescigno threw a 35-yard touchdown pass in the second half as Rutgers beat Purdue 14-12 Saturday, posting consecutive Big Ten Conference wins for the first time since joining the league in 2014.

Rutgers (3-4, 2-2) forced two turnovers and limited Purdue (3-4, 1-3) to 4 of 19 on third- and fourth-down conversion attempts. The defense also came up with a defensive stop on the 2-point conversion after Anthony Mahoungou made a one-handed catch of a 10-yard touchdown pass by David Blough with 25 seconds to play to cut the lead to two points.

BC cools off Virginia with 41-10 win

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (AP) Anthony Brown threw three touchdown passes and Boston College's defense stifled Virginia in a 41-10 victory on Saturday.

The Eagles (4-4, 2-3 Atlantic Coast Conference) won their second straight road game, and did it behind Brown, who completed 19 of 24 passes for 275 yards, and a defense that limited Virginia to 247. The Eagles, by contrast, had 275 through the air and 237 on the ground.

Dantonio: Scott resolved license issues

EAST LANSING, Mich. (AP) Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio says running back LJ Scott has resolved his driver's license issues and will play Saturday for the 18th-ranked Spartans against Indiana.

Scott faced a charge of driving with a suspended license, and court records Thursday showed him scheduled for a hearing next month. On Friday, Dantonio said in a statement that Scott "now has a valid driver's license, free of any restrictions" and the running back "has resolved the matter completely."
