Kansas lands Miami of Ohio WR Harwell

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Wide receiver Nick Harwell is transferring to Kansas after spending three seasons at Miami of Ohio, where he set the school record with 219 yards receiving in a game as a freshman.

Kansas coach Charlie Weis announced his decision in a statement Wednesday.

Harwell missed three games last season with a knee injury but still led the Mid-American Conference with 68 catches for 870 yards and eight touchdowns. He was the nation's second-leading receiver in 2011, when he caught 97 passes for 1,426 yards and nine touchdowns.

Oregon releases notice of allegations

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) Oregon received a formal notice of allegations in December related into the NCAA investigation into its use of recruiting services.

The notice, released in response to public records requests and first reported by The Register-Guard, follows reports that Oregon already met with the NCAA Committee on Infractions last month.

Spanier wants criminal charges dismissed

HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) Former Penn State President Graham Spanier has asked a county judge to throw out charges accusing him of helping cover up abuse allegations against former assistant football coach Jerry Sandusky.

Spanier's lawyers filed the motion last week, citing his allegation that the university's former top lawyer, Cynthia Baldwin, violated attorney-client confidentiality when she gave prosecutors information about him. He also argued that some of the charges were filed after the statute of limitations had run out.

2 Sooners coaches lose homes in tornado

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops says one of his graduate assistants and a strength coach had their homes destroyed in the tornado that hit suburban Oklahoma City.

Stoops told ESPN in an interview Tuesday that he doesn't know of any of Sooners players or their families who were hurt when the twister hit Moore on Monday.

WR McCartney returns to West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) Wide receiver Ivan McCartney is returning to West Virginia's roster six months after leaving the team.

West Virginia football spokesman Mike Montoro on Monday confirmed McCartney's return.

Ex-Tide WR Woodson heading to S. Alabama

MOBILE, Ala. (AP) Former Alabama receiver Danny Woodson is transferring to South Alabama.

Woodson, who grew up in Mobile, played in six games and had one catch as a redshirt freshman for the Crimson Tide in 2012.

Military Bowl goes from RFK to Annapolis

WASHINGTON (AP) The Military Bowl is moving this season from RFK Stadium in Washington to Navy-Marine Corp Stadium in Annapolis, Md.

The Military Bowl will match a team from the Atlantic Coast Conference against one from Conference USA and will be played Dec. 27. ESPN will broadcast the afternoon game.

'14 Big Ten games set for Rutgers, Terps

(AP) -- The Big Ten released its first football schedule with Rutgers and Maryland included, and the Scarlet Knights are getting quite a welcome to conference in 2014.

Rutgers' first five Big Ten games are: home for Penn State and Michigan, back-to-back road trips at Ohio State and Nebraska, and a home game against Wisconsin.

NCAA upholds 3-year show-cause for Cole

HOUSTON (AP) The NCAA Division I Infractions Appeals Committee has upheld a three-year show-cause order for former Texas Southern football coach Johnnie Cole.

Cole was given the order for failing to promote an atmosphere for compliance and the order prohibits him from all on- and off-campus recruiting activities until October 2015. He contested that finding, but the committee found that the information in the record was enough to uphold the finding of the violation.

EMU coach skydiving to fix bathrooms

(AP) -- The Eastern Michigan Eagles need new bathrooms, and coach Ron English is ready to jump out of a plane to get them.

English has pledged to skydive if EMU can raise at least $60,000 through its golf outing June 8 and other donations. Those who donate $5,000 will get to spend a day with English and staff members and skydive with him.
